Dr. Badar-ud-din Ahmed, Science and Technology Counsellor of Pakistan Embassy in Ankara, visited the Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center (IBG). During his visit, Dr. Ahmed met with IBG Director, Prof. Dr. Bayram Yilmaz, to discuss potential strategic collaborations between IBG and Pakistani research institutes. The discussion centered on joint R&D projects and official level partnerships.
Prof. Dr. Bayram Yilmaz emphasized the importance of the historic relations between Turkey and Pakistan, highlighting how these connections can enhance mutual scientific endeavors. Along with IBG program representatives, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Gürsel, Scientific Director Prof. Dr. Şermin Genç, and IBG Deputy Director Prof. Dr. Mehmet İnan, attended the meeting and provided an overview of IBG’s operations. They also conducted a tour of the facility for Dr. Ahmed, during which they discussed potential joint research activities.
Dr. Badar-ud-din Ahmed expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and highlighted the significant potential for developing mutual research and industrial collaborations. He pointed out that both countries can benefit from joint efforts, particularly in the fields of vaccines, diagnostics, medical devices, and technologies. He added that these common interests could be nurtured through bilateral programs and inter-institute partnerships in the near future.
The IBG team expressed their pleasure in hosting Dr. Ahmed and expressed their optimism about strengthening scientific and innovative collaborations with Pakistani research institutes in the days to come.
