DEU National Cancer Week Symposium held in IBG.
On April 8, 2025, Dokuz Eylul University (DEU) hosted the “National Cancer Week Symposium,” bringing together leading academics and medical professionals to discuss the latest developments in cancer research and treatment. The event took place at the İzmir Biomedicine and Genome Center (İBG).
The symposium opened with speeches from DEU Rector and Director of IBG Prof. Bayram Yılmaz, DEU Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Sefa Kurt, Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Serdar Bayrak, and Director of the Oncology Institute Prof. Refik Emre Çeçen.
Topics included the basic properties of cancer cells, prevention methods, early diagnosis programs, advances in radiology and genetics, and personalized treatment approaches. Sessions also addressed various cancer types such as colorectal, gynecological, liver, pediatric, and hematological cancers, along with discussions on epigenetic mechanisms and modern clinical practices.
The symposium aimed to foster scientific collaboration while raising public awareness in the fight against cancer.
