IBG researcher Dr. Gülçin ÇAKAN AKDOĞAN received grant support for her project that is a part of an international consortium on the identification of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) biomarkers.
The project proposed to Horizon Europe Programme by an international consortium with fifteen partners from Europe and three from UK will be supported with a budget of 6 million euro. The project, entitled as “Discovering chronic inflammation biomarkers that define key stages in the healthy-to-NASH transition to inform early prevention and treatment strategies.”, is expected to contribute to early diagnosis, prevention and treatment of chronic liver diseases which has become a leading global health problem. The project of Dr. ÇAKAN AKDOĞAN, which is funded with a budget of €335.000 from the highly competitive “Horizon Europe Health Cluster Programme”, will run for four years. Dr. ÇAKAN AKDOĞAN foresees that the zebrafish models that she and her group will develop, in collaboration with national and international partners, will contribute to biomarker discovery and validation studies.
