Unifying Multiomics: Bridging the Gaps Symposium and Workshop, organized by İzmir Biomedicine and Genome Center (IBG), was held on March 24, 2025. The event covered advancements in genetic research.
Unifying Multiomics: Bridging the Gaps Symposium’s opening speech was delivered by Prof. Uğur Özbek. Prof. Ahmet Okay Çağlayan, Dr. Zafer Yüksel, Prof. Hanno Jörn Bolz, Dr. İbrahim Miraloğlu, and Prof. Dr. Tunahan Çakır presented on key techniques in genetic analysis. At the event, technologies such as RNA sequencing and optical genome mapping were discussed in terms of their contributions to the precise detection of genetic variations. Participants gained detailed insights into PacBio and Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) long-read sequencing platforms while also engaging in discussions on critical topics such as the significance of RNA-Seq in Mendelian diseases.
In the hands-on workshop held in the afternoon, Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) diagnosis was covered with Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) led by Onur Yavuz. Participants conducted real-time data analysis.
