TÜSEB Board of Management visited IBG

TÜSEB Board of Directors visited Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center (IBG) to evaluate scientific cooperation and innovative projects.

TÜSEB President Prof. Dr. Ümit Kervan, Vice Presidents Prof. Dr. Mehmet Birhan Yılmaz and Assoc. Dr. Murat Sarğın and Director of the Turkish Institute for Health Data Research and Artificial Intelligence Applications Prof. Dr. Hakkı Muammer Karakaş reviewed the infrastructure, laboratories and ongoing projects of the IBG. During the visit, the participants exchanged views on genetic research, biotechnological drug development processes, and Turkey's innovation vision in healthcare.

Prof. Dr. Bayram Yılmaz, Rector of Dokuz Eylül University (DEU) and Director of IBG, shared information about the national and international collaborations of IBG. Researchers of IBG made detailed presentations on the Centre's priority research topics and studies on the latest innovations in health technologies. TÜSEB Committee expressed its appreciation for the contributions of IBG to Turkey's healthcare ecosystem and emphasised the need for further strengthening of collaborations in this field.

At the end of the visit, it was stated that issues such as developing joint projects between TÜSEB and IBG, increasing research support mechanisms and encouraging young scientists were discussed and opportunities for cooperation in these areas were evaluated.
