The Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center (IBG) is seeking a skilled Postdoctoral Researcher for the RareBoost project (# 952346).

The RareBoost ERA Chair is planning to advance in medical research through its research programs in rare diseases. We aim to provide a cutting-edge integrated research environment that harnesses the most recent advances in genomics and other areas of large-scale biology, with quantitative methodology and computational analysis for breakthroughs in rare disease research. The Chair aims to operate technology platforms at the Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center (IBG) and support rare disease research at national and international level.  

Job Description:

Working closely with the RareBoost ERA Chair holder and Associated Principle Investigator (PI), the postdoctoral researcher will develop zebrafish models of rare diseases, investigate disease mechanisms and drug intervention strategies. The candidate will be expected to execute research, support grant applications, writing of manuscripts.

Responsibilities: 

• Evaluation of the local cases of rare and undiagnosed diseases presented by RareBoost clinical partners, in terms of suitability for generation of zebrafish models.
• Facilitating communication and collaboration with the clinical partner(s), in order to initiate research projects.
• Develop genetic disease models, and or transgenic reporter lines using the zebrafish model organism.
• Plan and execute drug screening/repurposing experiments.
• Execute experiments and present results in oral and written format

Requirements:

• PhD degree or equivalent in Biological Sciences or Medical Sciences

Skills/Qualifications:

• Knowledge and experience of zebrafish as a research model.
• Knowledge and experience in molecular biology and or cell biology.
• Superb research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Ability to work autonomously and as an effective member of a team with minimal supervision.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) 

Specific Requirements:

• Bachelors or MSc degree in relevant field: Molecular Biology, Bioenginering, Biotechnology, Veterinary medicines, Aquatic species or similar
• PhD degree in: Medical Genetics, Molecular Biology, Molecular Medicine or Bioengineering
• Language requirements: ENGLISH-Excellent and TURKISH-Good
• Research Field: Zebrafish disease modeling, rare diseases
• Years of Research Experience: 1 - 4
