IBG-Biobank Team Awarded TÜBİTAK 1005 Research Project Funding

26 Ocak 2026

IBG-Biobank has been awarded funding under the TÜBİTAK 1005 – National New Ideas and Products Research Support Program for a project focused on developing cellular experimental models for rare diseases.

The project entitled “Development of Cellular Experimental Models for Rare Diseases: Establishment of an Immortalized Lymphoblastoid Cell Line Biobank Collection” is led by Dr. Sanem Tercan Avcı.

Within the scope of the proposed study, standardization of the immortalization process of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) is aimed. In this context, the establishment of a lymphoblastoid cell line (LCL) biobank collection to support research areas such as cell and gene therapies, drug interactions, and biomarker discovery is planned. This effort is expected to provide a robust, sustainable, and reliable cellular model resource for scientific research, particularly in rare and/or undiagnosed diseases.

In addition to Dr. Tercan Avcı, the IBG-Biobank team will participate in the project as researchers, while Prof. Dr. Neşe Atabey, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Okay Çağlayan, and Prof. Dr. Uğur Özbek will serve as consultants.
