RareBoost: Research and Innovation for Rare Diseases

RareBoost is a project funded by the Horizon 2020 ERA Chair programme and implemented by the Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center (IBG). The primary objective of the RareBoost ERA Chair project is to transform IBG into an internationally recognized center of excellence in rare disease research and innovation.

PAN-TER – Target-Specific Pan-Cancer Therapies

The aim of our TÜBİTAK-supported 1004 platform is to establish a network of excellence specializing in molecular and cell-based biotechnological drug development technologies, and through this structure to develop four new drugs and one companion diagnostic kit. Within the scope of the programme, a “pan-cancer therapy” approach targeting multiple cancer types will be implemented.

KORTUP –  National Platform for Protection and Treatment

The platform aims to establish a sustainable ecosystem—built on strong collaborations and advanced technological readiness—to enable our country to respond rapidly to potential outbreaks and pandemics.>The platform has three strategic focus areas: to develop a total of five prophylactic vaccines against viral, bacterial, and parasitic agents (many of which currently lack commercial vaccines); to establish a technology capable of generating vaccine candidates based on SpyCatcher/SpyTag using in silico data on a universal scaffold; and to develop formulations that ensure more durable protection through the discovery of next-generation adjuvants. The ultimate goal is to build a network of excellence specializing in rational vaccine design and cellular immunotherapy technologies, delivering five vaccines and two diagnostic kits for infectious diseases.
