10–11 December 2026
The Bioinformatics Service Unit of the Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center (IBG) will hold a two-day hands-on training programme entitled “Introduction to Omics Technologies: Transcriptomics” on 10–11 December 2026.
As part of this training programme, participants will learn the basic principles of next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and gain both theoretical and practical experience with RNA-seq data analysis workflows.
Designed for beginners, the training will cover the fundamental bioinformatics analysis steps, from quality control of raw RNA-seq data to differential gene expression analysis and the biological interpretation of results.
No prior coding or bioinformatics experience is required to attend.
Throughout the training, theoretical presentations will be supported by hands-on sessions, with the aim of helping participants understand and apply the fundamental transcriptomic analysis workflows.
The process begins with a biological question. Sequencing data are generated from samples in the laboratory, then processed and analysed on a computer to ultimately answer the question. The diagram below illustrates the 11 steps in this workflow, what is done at each step, which tool is used, and what output is obtained. The labels in the upper-right corner indicate the training session in which each step is covered.
