Scientific Output and Social Awareness Came to the fore at IBG Science Day 2025

İzmir Biomedicine and Genome Center (IBG) held its IBG Science Day 2025 with a program highlighting scientific productivity and interdisciplinary interaction.

Within the scope of the event, a panel was organized featuring Deniz Yılmaz Atakay, Head of Rare Diseases Federation, and Psychologist Serkan Arslan. The panel addressed the challenges faced by individuals living with rare diseases, the psychosocial needs of patients and their relatives, and advocacy activities carried out in this field. The speakers emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in the field of rare diseases.

The event also included a presentation by Assoc. Prof. Kaya Bilgüvar, Vice Director of the Graduate School of Social Sciences at Acıbadem University and Head of the Department of Translational Medicine.

This year, the IBG Science Medal Award was presented to Assoc. Prof. Savaş Taşoğlu, who is internationally recognized for his work in biomedical engineering and microfluidic systems.

While three young researchers working at IBG were honored with the Young Scientist Awards, four young researchers also received Encouragement Awards.

IBG Science Day 2025 concluded as an important platform for the dissemination of scientific knowledge, enhancing the visibility of young researchers, and promoting research that prioritizes public health.
