Biography
Dr. Keziban Korkmaz Bayram is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Medical Genetics, Faculty of Medicine, Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, and has been working at the Gene Targeting and Transgenic Models Platform of the Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center (IBG) since July 2024. She received her B.Sc. degree from the Department of Biology at Cumhuriyet University in 2010, and completed her M.Sc. in 2013 and Ph.D. in 2019 in the Department of Medical Genetics at Erciyes University. Her current research focuses on miRNA-mediated regulatory pathways involved in abnormal developmental phenotypes. In this context, she investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying the giant phenotype observed following miRNA pronuclear microinjection, with the aim of modelling and elucidating the epigenetic basis of growth abnormalities associated with imprinting disorders such as Beckwith–Wiedemann syndrome and Silver–Russell syndrome. She also conducts research on the molecular consequences of maternal stress, epigenetic regulation in response to early-life stress, and miRNA/mRNA-based control of gene expression.
Research Areas
At the Gene Targeting and Transgenic Models Platform at IBG, she investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying the giant phenotype observed following miRNA-mediated pronuclear microinjection, as well as the effects of small non-coding RNAs on developmental gene expression and imprinting control. Her research focuses on epigenetics, maternal stress, pronuclear microinjection, DNA methylation, three-dimensional neural cell culture, miRNA/mRNA expression, embryo collection and culture, and molecular genetics applications involving transgenic animal models.
