The IBG Biobank Quality Management System (QMS) is a framework that ensures all biobank activities are conducted in a systematic, traceable, and continuously improving manner, in accordance with ISO 20387:2018 and the guidelines and requirements of international organizations such as ISBER (International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories) and BBMRI-ERIC (Biobanking and Biomolecular Resources Research Infrastructure – European Research Infrastructure Consortium). This system encompasses all processes from the acquisition and storage of biological materials to their analysis, distribution, and disposal, thereby safeguarding the quality, integrity, and security of biological samples and associated data.
The ISBER and BBMRI-ERIC guidelines provide biobanks with practical recommendations on standard operating procedures (SOPs), data management, risk assessment, biosafety, and ethical compliance, while ISO 20387:2018 integrates these practices into measurable quality criteria and management system requirements. Through this integrated approach, we continue our activities with the aim of being a quality-driven unit that offers a reliable, sustainable, and internationally compatible infrastructure for researchers and supports global research collaborations.
